I had the pleasure of conducting a phone interview with a very humble & gifted young man by the name of Dougie Hendrix. Dougie hails from Florence, SC but resides in Atlanta, GA. Currently Dougie will be the opening act for “Laughter & Lyrics” Show featuring Lyfe Jennings, K. Michelle & Kourtney Wayne Saturday December 26th in Columbia, SC at the Township Auditorium.
RockstarrNaturally: First can you tell me how did you come up with the concept for this new dance craze Hop On One Leg?
Dougie Hendrix: Well hop on one leg started when I was at a club my friends & I we do this little dance lean to the left then lean to the right…then hop on one leg it just came to me naturally I just wanted to create something for everyone, something that kids could do.
RockstarrNaturally: Who were some of your musical influences; also what genre of music inspired you?
Dougie Hendrix: (Musical Influences) Usher, Mali Music, Kirk Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, (Genre of Music) 80’s & 90’s R&B I’m kind of an old soul also I really like R. Kelly.
RockstarrNaturally: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Dougie Hendrix: In 5 years I see myself being nominated for Grammy’s having clothing & shoe line I want my own dance studio..just wanna be successful I just want my son to be taken care of & have a better life than myself…. I going to stay humble the whole time.
RockstarrNaturally: So where can I hear more of your music would you happen to have an EP that’s in the making?
Dougie Hendrix: EP should be dropping sometime in February or March it depends on what kind of buzz that will generate with the single featuring Trina.
RockstarrNaturally: How would you label your style of music?
Dougie Hendrix: Hmm that’s a good question my music is all about me “Dougie Music” I make music like me I try to be different I try to have a different sound singing is more about the feeling junky music….
RockstarrNaturally: What was the vibe like working with Trina for your new single “Money”?
Dougie Hendrix: Trina is pretty good she’s real cool real humble she loved the song everything was just positive very sweet very nice…..I don’t think this will be the last time we’ll work together!
